Did you know that in addition to being a fun way to spend an evening with friends, listening to live music can also improve your verbal skills and reduce your stress level? As if we needed another reason to jam out with friends! Check out some of the best music venues in Houston below.
Established in 1977, Fitzgerald’s (a.k.a. the Fitz) is one of the city’s oldest and more widely recognized music venues. And its 10,000 square foot space features two rooms complete with a stage and premium stocked bars. Concerts are held several times a month. The acts include regional and national musicians who know how to put on a show.
Situated just north of downtown, White Oak is a newer venue featuring three stages over five acres. It offers a night of fun both indoors and outdoors. And, it hosts more than 400 musical acts every year including country and rap artists. The club-like upstairs seats around 350 visitors, while the downstairs theaters holds 1,200 and is where some of the biggest names in music have played.
The outdoor stage provides picturesque views and has welcomed acts such as Flaming Lips and Morrissey.
Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar
Lastly, nestled in the Heights neighborhood, Dan Electro’s Guitar Bar features a darkly lit interior and spacious patio. It has welcomed concertgoers since 1988. Interestingly, it’s an eclectic destination as it offers Americana, funk, honky tonk, and so much more. Dan Electro’s has a 4.5-star rating on Yelp, and in addition to enjoying the music, guests can also play trivia on Tuesday nights.
