From homemade candies to unique crafts, Houston farmers markets offer a wide range of local goods. When you’re ready to shop, here are three markets near our Houston apartments you don’t want to miss:
Both a farmer’s and artisan market, Eleanora’s invites everyone to shop on Saturdays. The market opened in 2017, after Federico Cavatore wanted to restore the area’s sense of community engagement. One hundred percent local, Eleanora’s features dozens of vendors who sell everything from colorful flowers to fresh produce. It opens rain or shine from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and is found in the parking lot of Cavatore Italian Restaurant.
Houston Farmers Market
A sprawling open-air destination, the Houston Farmers Market spans an impressive 18 acres. It traces its roots back to the 1940s. Running the early market was a challenging task as many of the farmers experienced hard times. Today, the market is called a “must-visit,” and it opens daily between 5:30 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. You can shop for fresh produce, spices, herbal teas, and so much more.
Urban Harvest Farmers Market
At Urban Harvest, all the farmers and producers come from within 180 miles of Houston. The market began from humble beginnings with just seven vendors. Today, it is one of the largest of its type in Texas. You’ll find a wide range of products, including honey, baked goods, and goat milk yogurt. Urban Harvest opens on Saturdays from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Before you shop, check out the market’s website for some fabulous recipes.
