Visit These Houston Food Trucks and Enjoy a Meal Outdoors

Two of the hottest trends dominating the food scene right now are summery outdoor dining and food trucks. Houston happens to have this trend all wrapped up. Here are a few of the best food trucks near our apartments in Houston!

MadMax BBQ

You haven’t tried Houston barbecue until you’ve tried MadMax BBQ. This family-run Southwest Houston food truck serves up all of your barbecue favorites. Expect beef ribs that slide off the bone, juicy chicken, and sizzling sausage. Get creative and try the mac ‘n’ brisket, oxtails, or boudin with crackers. And don’t forget about mom’s peach cobbler for dessert. MadMax BBQ has been around since 2013, with online reviews that are off the charts.

Oh My Gogi

A few blocks from Rice University on Amherst Street lies one of Houston’s most famous fusion food trucks, Oh My Gogi. Houston foodies have long been intrigued by the fusion of Mexican and Korean, and Oh My Gogi is the result. If you’re wondering what this fusion looks like, think bulgogi tacos and kimchi stir-fry quesadillas. This beloved food truck has been plying the Houston streets for a decade and tends to draw a crowd, so feel free to order ahead online to avoid the lines.

Eatsie Boys

When you find yourself on Houston’s Eastside, grab a specialty sandwich from Eatsie Boys. Located at 8th Wonder Brewery and Distillery, Eatsie Boys boasts Houston’s first all-gold intergalactic food truck. It was also recently ranked one of Houston’s top 10 food trucks by Houston On The Cheap. Beastie Boys fans will notice the band’s lyrics sprinkled throughout the menu. Order the Sabotage, a roasted pork au jus over collard greens on a roll, or the No Sleep Till’ Philly, a cheesesteak sandwich with caramelized onions. Grab a beer from the brewery and enjoy one of these specialty sandwiches at the outdoor picnic tables next to the truck.

If you want to take your order from one of these Houston food trucks and eat it picnic-style, then consider heading to Menil Park to enjoy the art installations.
