Nestled between the “oak-lined avenues of Houston’s finest residences” is a historic destination known as Rice Village. Founded in 1938, this walkable destination has evolved from barbershops and mom-and-pop stores to designer boutiques and beloved eateries. Here is some of what Rice Village has to offer near our Houston apartments:
Growing up in Houston, Christina Greene McAllen loved to style everything from clothes to furniture. She started making jewelry as a hobby and had no idea it would become a career. Today, she owns Christina Greene. Local and national media outlets have featured her creations, and you will find the selection features stylish pieces for both men and women. Items include turquoise cufflinks, pearl hoop earrings, and gold collar necklaces.
Beautique Day Spa & Salon
Founded in 1956, the Beautique Day Spa & Salon has grown to become Houston’s premier full-service day spa and salon. Co-founder Frank Burge was an expert hairstylist, while his wife contributed to dozens of publications. Today, they still stop by the spa, now run by their children. Services include men’s and women’s cuts, conditioning treatments, and Brazilian blowouts.
Brown Bag Deli
A small local eatery, the Brown Bag Deli takes pride in offering some of the tastiest sandwiches in town. The team only uses the finest, freshest ingredients. They make the sandwiches to order. In addition, they will gladly accommodate special requests. Choices include turkey, tuna salad, and buffalo chicken. Round out your meal with red potato salad and ice-cold lemonade.
After spending a fun-filled day exploring Rice Village, curl up at home with a book from a local Houston bookstore. You can enjoy everything from historical romance novels to page-turning thrillers.
